Hot, salty, buttery popcorn is an essential component of the movie theater experience... that is if you have an extra $20 burning a hole in your wallet after you've purchased the tickets.
Sadly, the popcorn that we're used to eating in a movie theater is over-salted and coated in a greasy combination of tropical oils, artificial flavorings and colorings... without a single drop of butter. It never lives up to the aroma, but we buy it and eat it anyway.
Microwave versions of "movie theater style" popcorn are even worse. If you're patient enough to pop your own popcorn and melt your own butter you have a chance at some decently good popcorn... as long as you have a light touch with the butter. Otherwise, you've got soggy popcorn.
During the past few years as I've presented many gallons of popcorn to friends and family for samples, I was often asked if I would ever produce a simple and straight "plain" popcorn with salt. Nothing much in that idea inspired me. After all, what was the challenge in it? I want any flavor that I bring to market to have something more going for it, something that can not easily be made at home... something worthy of the name "CrunchDaddy".
While I saw no challenge in producing plain popcorn, I believed that I could produce a buttery popcorn that was flavored with real butter and without a hint of artificial flavors or colorings. The result is what we now call "Movie Night Crunch"!
The ingredients are plain and simple: popcorn, butter, canola oil and finely ground sea salt. The butter is fresh (not powdered) and the sea salt is applied judiciously. We strive for "just salty enough" so that the true taste of the other ingredients can shine. For those that want the over-salted variety, their salt shaker probably isn't too far away and they're free to add all the salt they want.
In the end, "Movie Night Crunch" gives you an authentic buttered popcorn experience to enjoy in your own living room, home theater or man cave. No greasy fingers, no salt overdose and no need to pay movie theater prices!
You're gonna love it!
